big brother, really, you need to stop
i had a day, kids. a comedy of errors that stopped being funny.
the russian mafia 'boss'lady has decided as of late (read: defending her useless job) that we need to visit the big brother offices all over the northeast. two weeks ago it was a tad out of the city, like i noted. today, it was new england. and by new england i mean a 3.5 hour amtrak and a 40 minute cab. and $250 out of pocket. natasha can't be bothered going so the dumbass asked me to 'lead group and make sure no one cut out early and people pay attention.' me the narc. me of all fucking people. like putting the class bully in charge of the class lunch money.
so needless to say we left two hours early.
met the biblethumpers at 640a in penn. met MOST of the biblethumpers, that is. one called me at 530a to tell me she's running late, which i took to mean, 'i'll call you back in 20 minutes and tell you there is no way i can make it.' hell, i invented, 'i'm running late.' finally i sent the other ones to get the tickets and just as i'm calling the late one to say we're heading to the track, and good luck, she come careening through penn station like damian (or the pope) is chasing her. 'hey mon, we go we go i'm here mon!' and we miraculously meet the others and make the train with, no hyperbole, about 30 seconds to spare.
get to new england, and get into 'dominican car service' where the driver didn't speak english and didn't know where we were going. and after getting us lost and pulling over twice, we eventually got to our final destination, and $50 later at that. (there were two cabs in each leg.) tour went swimmingly, but i insisted we catch an earlier train, for natasha wanted us to get one that would get us in at about 9. veto, my time is money, i've got shit to do. so we got an acela back. acela is amtrak for 'deluxe-ish and fast.'
i did the math on this little junket... my vp will think i'm brilliant and the complete pain in the ass i am... the half assed way we did it today cost $175 in train tickets, times five, and $200 in cabs. that's $1075. if we took jetblue with advance reservations, it would have been $500 for all of us. a car rental about $200 at most at most. and saved hours and hours. instead we had a day that wouldn't die for the sake of a not quite three hour tour. ('a three hour tour!')
i've been up since 445, and when i finally got back to the city i was in such a fowl mood i took in a class at the gym with this nazi. i have to say, i feel 100000 times better. cheers to gym nazis, just what i needed after today, dearies. though he makes the queen who holds the class i usually take look like a kindergarten teacher. i will hurt tomorrow.
