on a trip home from an outing tonight (david blaine... LOSER), i took the subway with a rather new acquaintance who lives in my general hood. the subject of favorite movies then favorite songs came up and we exchanged. i mentioned that one of my favorites is 'the happening' by diana ross and the supremes. it's a great, great song. poignant words in a whimsical, albeit psychedelic, song. great to lift a mood, get you going, or for running. loved this song since high school.

then i dissected it. my train-mate didn't know what to make of it, while i think it's either about abortion or when diana lost her virginity. perhaps it's only about a broken heart. (only a broken heart, how pious of me.) take a look at the lyrics and dust off your 45s if you have any. this song is the shit. i am curious to see if i'm a malcontent or if i'm on to something. anyone???
